THE BETHANY PRE AND PRIMARY SCHOOL
YEAR SEVEN MID- TERM REPORT APRIL 2020
CLASS TEACHER: MATHIAS THOMAS SAMSON
Attendance
Year seven attended well to school except 5 pupils who missed some days due to health problems. Pupils who missed some days were Judith Gerlad Mungusa, Sheila Ally
Majapa, Elizabeth Mussa Matogoro and Yakobo Stephano Mabeyo. Generally, before closing the school on 17th March 2020, the attendance of pupils was about 95.6%
Teaching and learning progress
The academic performance of class seven is changing positively day to day; this is proved in their external examinations. For instance, the PESNO result was grade B of 32.8
average and the MOFET result was grade B of 37.3 average. Not only that but also the performance of internal examinations is good. However, Elizabeth Mussa Matogoro has
shown positive changes academically this term although she was struggling when she was in standard six. For instance, she has changed from 33 average in monthly test of
January to 40 average in MOFET examination and weekly test of 4th April 2020 respectively. This change is due to continuous guidance and counselling given by class teacher
and other teachers.
Due to COVID-19 disease, currently pupils are studying from home and they are doing well. Pupils are busy studying from home under the control of their parents. All parents of
class seven pupils are active in this program because the class teacher provided all strategies which are to be implemented seriously at home to help pupils academically. The class
teacher always visit in the families of year seven pupils to see the progress of pupils and to check if parents are implementing the strategies of helping pupils given to them by the
class teacher. The outcome of this program is positive and can be proved in their weekly results, the academic performance changed positively from 27.2 average in 27th
March2020 to 36.7 average in 4th April 2020.
Despite of having positive changes in year seven this term, also there are some areas pupils are struggling. For instance, all year seven pupils are struggling in spelling, also
Judith Gerlad Mungusa and Esther Michael Jackson are struggling in their studies although they are getting different helps from teachers and their fellow pupils, as the results
they are lowering the general averages of the class in the examinations.
The Bethany school action plans
To some extentthe school action plans are in consideration, For instance, all groups of pupils are sufficiently challenged through different questions, Teachers are aware of the
abilities of class seven pupils and they are helping all pupils accordingly. However, marking and feedback of pupils work is active in class seven, this is helping pupils to improve
academically because they are getting corrections of their works.
Behaviour
The behaviour of year seven is good because they are able to follow the directions given by teachers. Also pupils of year seven are cooperating themselves even if the teachers
are not around in the class. Despite of having good behaviour in my class, also they need more counselling and advises because they are human being who can forget, so
generally the behaviour of year seven is good, simply because they are following guidance and directives given by teachers. Also currently all year seven pupils are cooperating
among themselves in academic matters.Guidance and counselling will be given to them. All teachers are highly welcomed to correct my pupils where mistakes are observed.
Suggestion
Next term teachers who are teaching in class seven should do revision of the past contents in form of questions. This will help pupils to be competent in all contents taught, and
will help them to perform well in exams although they have not finished the syllabus. (Questioning should be frequently).
However, Judith Gerlad Mungusa and Esther Michael Jackson will be given more simple mathematics questions which will help them to master simple concepts, this will enable
them to score at least above 25 marks in their mathematics examinations.
Not only that but also, teachers should continue providing more subjective questions in form of exercises and homework. This will help them to improve their spellings.
All in all, year seven pupils are good in all spheres including academically. But we need to have positive attitudes toward the class by encouraging them frequently and not
discouraging them. I hope God is with us and they will do the best in their examinations.
Class seven pupils and I, are extending our grateful thanks to all the Bethany UK supporters for their support.
May our heavenly Father reward you abundantly.
Yours in Christ
