Vehicle usage guidelines referred to in our Transport Policy

1)Where possible one vehicle (and a driver!) should remain on site in case of medical emergencies

2) No individual should take a vehicle out alone. On longer journeys a second driver should be present for safety and in case of fatigue or illness of the first.

3) No vehicle should be left unattended when off site. The vehicles should not be away from site overnight unless absolutely necessary and must be kept in an enclosed, locked yard (e.g. when at fortes garage)

4) Driving after dark must be avoided unless in an emergency ( additional hazards on the road/ bandits etc. )

5) The vehicles must be kept locked when not in use including when they are on site. The vehicles must be locked away at night when on site

6) The drivers are responsible for keeping the keys in a safe place (locked away) when the vehicles are not in use. The keys must not be left lying around for anyone to pick up (e.g. children).

7) The drivers that use the vehicles are responsible for filling in the log books for each journey with reason for use/ destination/mileage/passenger details etc. this applies even if a vehicle is used on site for any reason.

8) The driver is responsible for safe loading/ security of the vehicle whilst he/ she is driving and must not pick up any passengers that they do not know personally or make detours for any business other than Bethany business/taking someone to hospital as outlined.

9) No Bethany vehicle must be driven/hired/borrowed by anyone other than Bethany Tz/ UK team qualified drivers without specific agreement between Tz and UK teams.

10)  In an emergency and driving off road is necessary then only drivers familiar with driving off road and familiar with the terrain/route they are covering should do so as not to endanger themselves, passengers or others.

11) Visitors/Guests are not allowed to drive Bethany vehicles without the permission of the UK team whether they have a license or not.
