Teachers in Training Progress: We have received two donations specifically to pay for our 8 girls (Teachers in Training) to return home for 6 weeks in the summer holidays.  Sophia will have finished her UK education but the other 7 hope to return to the UK to continue their studies.  Three of our girls (Rehema, Mpelwa and Debora) will have finished their Btec diplomas with high marks (324 predicted points) and are hoping that at a meeting booked for the 24th February Blackburn College may agree to fund them to take the BA degree in Education following in the footsteps of Jesca, Emma, Sophia and Fatuma.  However during their 6 week break back at Bethany in Tanzania they will have a very full timetable teaching at the Bethany school and also helping by visiting the local village schools (primary and secondary) and helping the village children. Presentations: The girls have sung at many different events including Spring Harvest, Church services, Schools, Exhibitions, Weddings,  from short 10 min slots to full 1 hour presentations.  If you have an opportunity for them to sing and perhaps hear their stories then please email: graham@pountain.net. (there is no charge for their visit)

The New toilet block is now complete and all the doors are on and water is flowing. Only the electrics needed connecting which I am told has now been done. School Registration: We have now filled in the various forms and have had the various inspections from all the different departments.  We had to provide photographs of most of the buildings on site as the authorities are treating our school as a boarding school.  We had hoped for registration in January but the inspections etc took longer than expected.  The application has to go through various stages including the district and regional levels before being granted a licence at National level.  However we have been told we may be eligible for temporary registration whilst we wait.  Click here to see our photos that went with our application form.

Our two UK trained teachers Jesca and Emmakulatha report on progress with the new School Licence. They have a new volunteer teacher to help with some of the subjects especially subjects specific to Tanzania.  Both Jesca and Emma have help from the form 4 leavers especially Emmanuel and Bhati.  They have also arranged for some of the std 4 children to take their national exam at a local highly regarded private school.  In July they will have help from Sophia who will have completed her education in the UK and be joining them as a fully qualified volunteer teacher.
Happiness Peter
Secondary School Progress: Here is the smiling face of Happiness Peter who has just got her results for the National form 2 exams.  Of the 192 students in her year she came top with 4.9points out of a total of 5.  We have 6 students in form 2 and 5 gained distinctions and one gained a merit.  It has to be said that their success is mainly due to the extra help and encouragement they receive from Bethany. Click here for results Primary School Progress: We are especially pleased to tell you that Kulwa Malu pictured below has done exceptionally well coming 4th in his standard 4 exams out of 74 students in his class.  Even better news for std 6 children, the top 8 students were all from Bethany, the top 6 being girls followed by 2 of our boys. 76 students are in std 6. Click here for all results Education in general; Click here for a list of all our children in their different year groups and schools etc. You will notice that some of our children are at home being taught by Jesca and Emma whilst others are waiting for our school to be registered before moving from the Village Government Primary school to Bethany.
